Olympic Games XXVIII 2004 in Athens
Front side:
The twelve stars of the European Union are placed around the outer circle surrounding the design of an ancient statue of a discus thrower trying to throw the discus. The base of the statue covers a small part of the outer ring of the coin (outer part). On the left is the Olympic logo “ATHENS 2004” and the five Olympic circles, and on the right, one above the other, are the number “2” and the word “EURO”. The year is written with a lecture around the star in the centre below, as follows: 20*04, and the mint mark is above the athlete’s head on the left.
